Speed up Internet Explorer to load websites fast

Internet Explorer 8 is, without a doubt, the best browser that Microsoft has ever produced (if you have IE6 IE7 or IE8, update it and download Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 or Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 10), but it is absolutely not the best browser among those available.
Recently I had the opportunity to address the topic during the Windows update on the ballot screen, the window of choice of the browser to use to surf the internet.
Even in that article I did not use nice words for the Microsoft browser showing how its competitors are enormously richer in features and, above all, faster to load websites.
However, I cannot overlook the fact that Internet Explorer is the most used web browser in the world and in Italy; you want because you are forced, you want out of habit, many people remain faithful to the old rubbish. Now therefore, instead of recommending for the umpteenth time to use one of Opera, Firefox and Google Chrome, let's see how to optimize Internet Explorer, to make it start faster, to speed up web browsing and the download of files and data .
In particular, you may be aware of the difficulties of Internet Explorer 8, after some time of using it, when, suddenly, the pages start to load slowly or the Internet closes and crashes in unexpected ways.
The reason is that IE8 is also a victim of garbage, just as Windows slows down after some time installing programs, Internet Explorer can be weighed down by unnecessary toolbars, heavy plug-ins, uncertified ActiveX controls and many other wastes Assorted.
Fortunately, if it is true that Explorer 8 becomes heavy and problematic after a period of time, in a few minutes you can bring it back to its best standards and restore the original performance.
1) Remove unwanted extensions and toolbars
Not to be less than Firefox, add-ons or extensions can be installed on Internet Explorer 8.
Extensions are enabled by default and can be managed by going to Tools -> Manage add-ons .
The main screen of this extensions configuration window allows you to enable or disable the add-ons but not to remove, delete or uninstall them.
To remove one of these items, right-click on the unwanted component, go to the " More information " item and press the Remove button, if enabled.
Some system extensions, however, cannot be deleted because the remove button remains transparent and cannot be clicked.
Still on the additional information window, however, you can go back to the program that put that extension and also to the file that loads it.
I recommend limiting yourself to deactivation in case the removal is disabled, however, if you really want to delete the extension from the list, you can, or uninstall the program from which the extension derives, or search if there is a way to remove it or, search for the responsible file and delete it.
Some extensions are stored in the C: / Windows / Downloaded Program Files folder.
If you know what you are doing, you can also delete the files from that folder, perhaps making a security backu in case IE does not work well.
The worst that can happen however is that some pages are no longer displayed correctly.
Regarding the toolbars, except perhaps that of Google, the others are all to be removed as underlined also in the article on the programs to never install on the PC.
In severe cases, if you open the internet with a thousand advertisements, it is better to use Hijackthis, the rootkit removal program and deselect everything related to Internet Explorer.
2) Remove ActiveX controls
These components of the Microsoft browser are present in all its editions and therefore also on Internet Explorer 8.
essentially, some web applications, especially those that only work on IE, install this ActiveX which is a small integrative software for the browser.
There are times when these ActiveX are viruses and must be recognized and removed manually or through antispyware programs such as Malwarebytes or Superantispyware.
3) Remove the accelerators
This new feature in Internet Explorer 8 puts buttons for quick launch of some web applications.
Going, always from the window of the add-ons, in the accelerators section, this time, you can disable or completely remove the components in the list.
The same thing can be done for the search provider section, where you can remove search engines on the internet that you don't intend to use and set the default one.
4) To download multiple files simultaneously, biosnga go to the registry keys.
Then go to Start -> run and write the word "regedit" without quotes.
In the navigation tree follow the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ InternetSettings .
After selecting this directory, among the items that appear on the right, locate MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server, open them with a double click and select the decimal value equal to 10.
After making the changes, restart the PC.
5) Make the web pages of the sites load faster, speeding up navigation .
Going to Tools -> Internet Options -> History Settings, at the top, there is a function that allows the browser to search the cache of temporary files, the most recent version of a website so as to load it faster.
In this option, make sure you have chosen the Search for newer versions, Automatically .
6) Configure the cache of temporary files
Always remaining in Settings -> Browsing History Settings, check that the disk space to be used for the cache has, by default, 50 MB and no more.
If your PC has more than one hard drive, make sure temporary files are stored on the fastest or newest one, by changing the storage location of the temporary files.
7) In some cases, if the web pages load slowly, it could be the fault of some damaged file inside the cache.
To solve the problem, just empty the temporary files folder and delete everything inside it.
From the Tools menu, under the Browsing history item, press Delete and choose temporary files in the list.
8) Always activate the pop-up blocker
Not only do they cause slowdowns to the network but the annoyance brought by the pop-ups that open to the whole page or in small sneaky windows that are behind the main window of Internet Explorer becomes incredible.
It so happens that maybe, after surfing the internet a bit, Internet Explorer closes and a small active window with a slightly uplifting banner is discovered.
To activate the Popup blocker, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy and put the cross on Activate Pop-up Blocker.
Then click on Settings and check which sites are allowed to show pop-ups (sometimes, certain web applications need them)
9) To increase the performance of IE8 a little more, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings and, if you are using the computer from home, remove the selection on the item " automatically detect settings " .
10) In the case of frequent errors, there are tools that allow you to automatically correct Internet Explorer problems if it crashes or closes on its own .
Now, the Microsoft browser should be fine even if far from the potential and performance of other browsers.
